Application for Enrollment
The Brawley School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School for grades 6-8 with a mission to inspire students to become compassionate,
lifelong learners who are responsible, global citizens. We are a choice school within the Iredell-Statesville School District, so students must apply for admission.
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a five year programme. In the Iredell-Statesville School District the IB MYP begins at either The Brawley School or Oakwood Middle School in grades 6-8 and continues at South Iredell for grades 9-10.
The above application is for students who would like to join the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme in the Iredell-Statesville School District for the 2022-2023 school year. The Brawley School will accept applications for students whose traditional middle school would be Woodland Heights Middle or Lakeshore Middle. Oakwood will accept applications for students whose traditional middle school is East Iredell Middle, West Iredell Middle, North Iredell Middle, Third Creek Middle, or Troutman Middle. If an applicant resides outside of the Iredell-Statesville School District, they will be asked to select their preferred school within the application.
OPEN ENROLLMENT 2022-2023
The Brawley School's Open Enrollment will begin on January 4 and end on January 28, 2022 at 11:59pm. Only applications submitted during the open enrollment period will be considered for general admission.
Any application received after January 28, 2022 is considered late. Late applications will be placed on a waiting list and will be kept in a first come first served manner. Enrollment for late applicants is subject to availability.
All late applicants will need to submit an application and obtain the following records from your student's school data manager:
____ Student's most recent report card
____ Student's disciplinary record and attendance record
____ Student's benchmark assessment scores from this current school year (Math and Reading iReady and NC Check-in results preferred, along with EOG scores, if available.)
**If coming from out of state or a private school, please provide any available state test/standardized test results for Reading and Math.
Prior to the open enrollment period we will host meetings with the 5th grade classes at our feeder schools. We will also hold an informational event via Zoom on December 20, 2021. This was a recorded event and can be viewed on our school YouTube Channel at this time.
While reviewing applications, several data points are considered. The applicant’s benchmark scores and responses to the questions in the application will be reviewed to determine if The Brawley School is a good fit for your child. These data points will be collected through our district database for applicants who are current students in Iredell-Statesville Schools (I-SS). Applicants who currently attend a charter school, private school, or other school outside of I-SS must submit those supporting documents themselves. This information is used to help us provide parents with an informed recommendation about whether their student is likely to be successful in this programme.
OUT OF DISTRICT APPLICANTS
There is no cost for a student to attend The Brawley School if a family resides in the Iredell-Statesville School District (I-SS). Students who reside outside of Iredell County are required to pay an annual tuition fee, which is established each summer by the district's central office.
